Rockport Texas Lots to do here

Rockport, Texas

Arrived in Rockport January 14 and stayed at Ancient Oaks Rv park for the night. I had arranged for a one night stay to determine if I wanted to stay longer.  When I arrived there was no one in the office and I waited for about 15 minutes and some other campers were also waiting. After the office girl did arrive I was able to check in and I wanted to pay in cash but she said since I had given a credit card to secure the site I couldn't change the pay method. When I asked about my Good Sam discount she asked if I had told the person who made my reservation about the discount and I replied I had done that. She then said if I decided to stay another night she would then discount the rent.  I was escorted to my site #13 and it was next to a house I think the manager lived in. However on the driver side of the site there was debris scattered about including bicycles and an old BBQ grill along with lots of other stuff.  The site was very narrow with about 2 ft clearance between the debris and my camper. There was no one in site 12 when I arrived and I thought this might not be as terrible as I first expected. About 4 pm the site next to mine was occupied and I don’t think I could have opened the awning without hitting there rig.

I decided I wouldn't stay here longer than the one night and made arrangements with Lagoons RV resort to relocate here on the 15th.
This park is very nice and while it costs more I believe it is well worth the difference. These sites are also somewhat close together but very manageable. The neighbors are very nice and they certainly have lots of activities here. The first night I went to the commons area for the entertainment and was very pleased with the Gordy and Debbie show from Branson MO. There is something  going on here all the time.  The second night there was Bingo at 6:30 and while I didn’t attend I’m sure I would have been welcomed. I have met several very nice people here. Tonight there is Rockport Rhythm’s entertainment with local musicians from this park.  There is also a large swimming pool , Table tennis, Soft ball, Corn hole, Horseshoes, Shuffle board, Card games, pool tables, and lots more activities. There are two classes being offered in the park, one is Genealogy and the second is Astronomy 101 as the second.  I  got my fishing licence and have gone fishing on the Rockport pier a couple of times.
I have decided to stay here for a month and then determine if I have seen enough of the area.

More later.
