International Peace Gardens

June 13, 2018
Mileage 51976

We left Fargo at 8:45 and traveled to the International Peace Gardens. We found out about the Gardens from Carl in Rockport Texas. He had met here with a group and traveled north to see Polar Bears.
The Peace Garden was dedicated on July 14, 1932 with a Cairn, which states, “To God in his Glory we two nations dedicate this garden and pledge ourselves that as long as men shall live we will not take up arms against one another.”
This plot of land consists of 2339 acres and is on the  border between Canada and United States. When you leave the gardens you have to enter either country through customs. When we left we came back into the United States and had a little problem. I saw the sign for cars and one for commercial vehicles I chose the the wrong lane and was so informed when the custom agent came and told me.  Anyway the next time through customs the RV will choose the car lane.
We explored the gardens after we arrived and the main garden area was beautiful. but we were early for the rest of the plantings. The nursery were full and they were busy putting plants into the ground.
There was only one other camper visible from our campsite. We had a electrical problem and found a blown fuse in our campsite disconnect box. I borrowed a fuse from the next site as it was after the office was closed for the evening. The campground provides free fire wood and we saw other campers obtain some for the evening. Light rains were coming down so we didn't start a campfire. We were able to obtain a Canada TV station but no phone cell service was available. This was a very peaceful stay and aspen trees were in abundance in the campground and on the grounds.

Game Warden museum was onsite with lots of mounts confiscated from offenders.
